Candidates are invited by IRCC in PNP specific draw
In the latest express entry draw held by IRCC in May, 589 invitations (ITAs: Invitation to apply) were released in a specifically for PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) candidates. The minimum score required for the same was 691. It is the fourth draw of this year which is PNP specific. Last draw was held on March 1st under which 667 candidates were invited. In the latest PNP specific draw, candidates who received the invitation were already in the pool of express entry and additionally they received a nomination from the province.
Proof of funds: Updated
IRCC stated on May 2ndthat the amount of money that Express Entry candidates in Canada must have access to has changed. To establish that they have the money to settle in Canada, all Express Entry applicants must produce evidence of cash. Candidates in the Canadian Experience Class or Express Entry who are authorized to work in Canada and have a legitimate job offer do not need to provide proof of money. This is true even for applicants to the Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades Programmes.
Candidates must now update their profiles to indicate that they still have the requisite amount of settlement funds in order to be eligible for Express Entry. The sum is updated annually by IRCC. It is calculated using 50% of the low-income cut-off totals and fluctuates depending on the number of persons a candidate must be able to support.

Express Entry in 2023
This draw followed the April 26 draw, in which 3,500 applicants with CRS scores of 483 were invited.
On April 12, IRCC also invited 3,500 applicants with CRS scores of 486. This number of applicants each draw is half of what was witnessed in March, when the IRCC invited nearly 21,000 candidates in four consecutive rounds, three of which invited 7,000 individuals.In March, the total number of candidates invited was the second-highest in Express Entry history. It is only surpassed by a February 2021 draw in which 27,332 CEC hopefuls obtained an ITA.
April also signifies a possible return to a regular draw timetable. Express Entry draws are held every second week on Wednesdays through late 2022 and until March 2023. Throughout the month of March, there were weekly draws. The March and April draws also returned to the norm for all-program draws. Throughout January and February of this year, the majority of draws for the Provincial Nominee Program were programme specific.IRCC, on the other hand, held the first-ever program-specific lottery for the Federal Skilled Workers Program on February 2nd.
About Express Entry
Express Entry is the fastest and most popular pathway for immigrants who are looking forward to settle in Canada. Permanent residency applications submitted through the Express Entry system have a typical processing time of 6 months. Following are the programs which are managed under it:

The Candidate's permanent resident visa is processed in 6 months or less, once the authorities have received the complete application.

- What is the eligibility criteria for Express Entry?
Canada Express Entry process follows a points-based system known as CRS i.e., Comprehensive Ranking System. In order to be eligible for Canada Express Entry the candidates are required to score minimum points as required in the above mentioned programs. Points are usually allotted on the basis of education, skills, age, Language proficiency, experience, employment background, and provincial/territorial nomination.
Note: Candidates can boost their score by getting 600 additional points towards their CRS if they get a provincial nomination via the provincial nominee program (PNP).
- What is the maximum age for Express Entry?
Though there is no maximum age for Express Entry applicants. However, the applicants who are between 20-29 years of age receive the maximum points for age. Your points can be compensated if you have high level of education or networks in Canada in case you are above 35 years of age.
- How long does Express Entry take?
The process starts from submission of the Express Entry profile and goes on until you are given a PR visa which takes about 6 months. However, it is dependent on case to case how much time it will take. It is to be noted that your EE profile remains active in the pool of candidates for a year if you haven’t received your ITA (Invitation to apply).
