CRS Factors
Before application for Canada Permanent Residence Visa, the candidate's profile is assessed and ranked in the pool of Express Entry, for that Comprehensive ranking system (CRS) is used. It is a points-based system under which the candidates are given CRS score on the below mentioned factors:
- Age
- Education level
- Language proficiency
- Canadian work experience
- Relation in Canada
Express Entry draws are held by Canadian government every two weeks under which it issues ITA to those eligible candidates who holds the maximum CRS scores by which the candidates can apply for Permanent residency.
Along with the above mentioned factors there few more which is considered under the Comprehensive ranking system based on the candidates profile. Following are the same:
- Core or Human Capital Factor
- Spouse or common-in-law factor
- Skill Transferability Factor
- Other additional Factors
Minimum CRS score required to enter Express Entry pool:
From draw to draw the Comprehensive ranking system cut-off changes and may rise or decrease on various factors therefore there is no minimum CRS score. Candidates who are eligible and holds a higher Comprehensive ranking system score receive an Invitation to apply for PR.
How CRS Canada works?
Express Entry uses the candidate’s credentials for checking the eligibility of their profile. Under the Canadian immigration point’s system, a total of 1200 points are available for the Express Entry candidates.
The requirements for the same are listed below:
The candidates without common-law partner or spouse can score the following maximum points:

- 15 points - Relation in Canada
The candidates who have a common-law partner or spouse can score the following maximum points :

How can you increase your CRS score?
There are numerous ways by which applicants can increase their CRS Canada scores in the EE pool. Young people who holds high class education and have proficiency in both English and French along with blood relations and valid job offer in Canada receive additional points towards their CRS score.
The most effective way of increasing the CRS score is by applying through the PNP pathways i.e., Provincial Nominee Programs under which the candidates can receive up to 600 additional points via the Express Entry system on receiving the nomination , after which they would be surely be granted an ITA which will ultimately open path for permanent residency.
Under the programs of provincial nomination there are different criteria which are set by the particular province. In order to apply for the PNP programs the candidates are required to fulfill the criteria of the province they want to get nominated for.
In case the candidates gets eligible to apply for multiple Express Entry programs, they will receive invitation to apply i.e., ITA for one of the below mentioned programs:
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
