What is the CELPIP?
The Canadian English Language Competence Index Program (CELPIP) is an English language proficiency exam for Canadians. The CELPIP Test allows candidates to demonstrate their proficiency in English. The exam measures a test taker's English abilities in a number of everyday scenarios, including as conversing with coworkers and superiors at work, engaging with friends, reading newscasts, and interpreting and responding to written materials.

CELPIP Test

CELPIP General - Listening

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) accepts the CELPIP General LS Test for citizenship applications and other professional certifications. In Canada, it is not advised for job or university applications. The CELPIP LS exam keeps track of your listening and speaking abilities.

CELPIP & EXPRESS ENTRY
The Express Entry immigration selection system manages applications submitted to any of Canada's federal economic immigration Programmes.
Getting in the EE pool
Under Express Entry, the candidates are required to demonstrate their ability to communicate in English or French (or for extra points, both).There are three different pathways to enter the pool. Following are the same:

• FSWP - Federal Skilled Worker Program
• FSTP - Federal Skilled Trades Program
• CEC - Canadian Experience Class

The language criteria for getting into the Express Entry pool differ depending on which of the above mentioned program a person qualifies for. Unlike the IELTS and TEF examinations, which use different scoring systems, CELPIP test results are graded on a scale of one to twelve, just as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs). Note: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) considers CELPIP findings to be valid for two years from the date of issuing. When CELPIP findings become invalid, the applicant is withdrawn from the pool and is no longer eligible for a permanent residency ITA. As a result, applicants whose results may become invalid are urged to take another exam before that possibility arises.

2) How long does it take to complete the CELPIP test?

3) Can I take the CELPIP test several times?
You may take it as many times as you like, but you must register for no more than one session in a four-day period. You must also wait at least 30 days after your last exam to retake your CELPIP exam.
