Asia Visit/Tourist Visa
Being the world’s largest continent, Asia has become a prominent place among immigrants all around the world. Before proceeding further, one need to understand that Asia, ASEAN, and Southeast Asia are three distinct geographical regions. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists ten members whereas Southeast Asia is a region in Asia that stretches from south to east and includes 11 nations.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has created an electronic visa (ASEAN). It is also known as the ASEAN common visa (ACV) and will be available through a simple online application in the near future. The visa, once implemented, will allow the bearer to travel to any of the ten ASEAN member nations for the duration of its validity. This website contains all of the latest information regarding the future online visa, including the standards that travelers must complete and how to apply in a matter of minutes from the comfort of your own home.
ASEAN Visa Information
The ASEAN visa is being introduced with the goal of easing tourist and commercial travel between all of the ASEAN member nations. The single visa's better interconnectivity is predicted to increase the number of tourist arrivals in the entire economic union by 6-10 million per year. This may generate an estimated $12 billion in tourist income for ASEAN countries, resulting in the creation of thousands of new employment in member states' tourism industry, encouraging economic growth, and alleviating poverty in the region.
The ASEAN single visa is also intended to tighten the economic union's borders by pre-screening tourist arrivals prior to admission. As a result, it will aid in the reduction of cross-border crime and illegal migration in the region.
ASEAN Visa Policy
Currently, each of the ten ASEAN member states has its unique visa policy. The establishment of the ASEAN single visa, on the other hand, is a step toward a uniform visa policy akin to that of the European Schengen Area (read about ETIAS).The establishment of the ASEAN visa necessitates a closer alignment of member states' visa rules and the adoption of a single application process. It is believed that after the visa is introduced, the bearer would be able to stay the same length of time in each ASEAN country. Although each of the ASEAN member nations presently requires a separate visa, holders of an authorized common visa will be allowed to access all ten ASEAN countries as if they were a single destination.
The ten nations that make up the ASEAN economic union are as follows:
- Brunei Darussalam
ASEAN Visa Requirements
The ACV will be accessible via a simple online application that qualified persons may complete in a matter of minutes once it is introduced. The ASEAN visa application can be completed online from any location in the world. Travelers will no longer need to visit embassies or consulates to get visas for each ASEAN country because of the streamlined application process. An ASEAN visa application is likely to be handled swiftly, within a few business days. The applicant will receive the visa by email after it has been accepted. The candidate can then print a copy to deliver to any ASEAN member state upon arrival. The most important prerequisite for applying for an ASEAN visa is that you have access to an electronic device with an internet connection. The candidates will also require:
- Credit or debit card to pay the ASEAN eVisa charge
- Valid passport from an eligible country
- Genuine email address to which the approved visa will be sent
Because the ASEAN visa has not yet been implemented, further criteria are expected to be imposed in the coming months. As a result, as the implementation date approaches, you should revisit this website for an updated list of prerequisites for the online visa.
ASEAN Visa-free Agreement
All nationals of ASEAN nations are allowed visa exemption visiting other member states under a single agreement reached in 2002. For brief periods of tourism, visiting friends and family, or business activity, ASEAN nationals are given visa-free access. A passport issued by an ASEAN country is all that is required to pass through a border checkpoint. The passport must, however, be valid for at least six months after the date of admission.
According to the common accord, people of member states are allowed a minimum of 14 days of visa-free stay in an ASEAN country. Each ASEAN member, however, is allowed to set its own visa rules. As a result, several countries in the union, such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore, allow visa-free stays of up to 30 days. Depending on each member state's particular visa policy, ASEAN visa exemption is also offered to a variety of third-country nationals. The length of time a person can remain without a visa is determined by their nationality as well as the Southeast Asian country they desire to visit. To enjoy a stay in an ASEAN country, all foreign people who require a visa must apply for a separate travel permission for each individual member state. They will be able to get a single visa to visit all of the ASEAN nations once the ASEAN visa is established.
