The Ireland study visa requirements from India are simple to list. You need an offer from an eligible Irish college, at least €6,000 of tuition paid, proof of €10,000 in living funds, health insurance and a valid passport. You apply online for a D study visa, then give your biometrics at VFS Global Ireland in India.
Many Indian families compare India vs Ireland before choosing a Masters abroad. Ireland is popular because English is the study language and graduates get a stay-back option. Here is what the Irish embassy expects for the Ireland student visa.
| Requirement | What you need |
|---|---|
| Offer letter | Full-time course at an eligible Irish college |
| Tuition | At least €6,000 paid (or the full fee if it is lower) |
| Living funds | €10,000 for year one, then €10,000 for each later year |
| Insurance | Private medical insurance |
| English | IELTS or another accepted test (the college sets the score) |
| Passport | Valid, with enough validity for your stay |
| Study gaps | A clear written explanation |
| Intent | A statement that you will return home after your course |
Some older pages still show €7,000 as the funds rule. That is outdated. Rules changed in mid-2025, so use the €10,000 figure and confirm on irishimmigration.ie.
Ireland has two study visas:
You can apply up to three months before you travel. Your course must be full-time and on the eligible programme list. Part-time and distance courses do not qualify.

After you apply
Tip: For the September Ireland intake, apply by May. The January intake is smaller, so fewer courses are open.
Ireland uses the euro. For easy maths, we use ₹100 = €1 below. Check the live rate before you pay.
| Cost | Euro | Approx. INR |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition paid before visa (minimum) | €6,000 | ₹6 lakh |
| Living funds, year one | €10,000 | ₹10 lakh |
| Visa fee (single entry) | €60 | ₹6,000 |
| Full tuition | Varies by college | See our cost guide |
Savings, education loans and sponsor support can count as proof. Property, gold and investments usually do not, as they are not ready cash. Read our Ireland study cost guide for fees by course.
Indian students often choose from these universities in Ireland. This is not a ranking. Check QS and THE tables before you decide on the top universities in Ireland for your subject.

|---|---|---|
| Trinity College Dublin | Dublin | Research, tech, arts |
| University College Dublin | Dublin | Business, engineering |
| University of Galway | Galway | Medtech, data, biosciences |
| University College Cork | Cork | Pharma, food science, IT |

| University of Limerick | Limerick | Engineering, tech |
| Maynooth University | Kildare | Computing, science |

Choose by course, fees, city and job links, not by name alone.
With Stamp 2 permission, you can work:
After graduation, the Third Level Graduate Programme (Stamp 1G) lets you look for a job. Level 8 graduates get 12 months. Level 9 and above get 24 months. Job openings in Ireland are often strong in tech, finance, pharma and healthcare.
On Ireland PR requirements, study alone does not give you PR. Most graduates first move to an employment permit, then apply for long-term residence later. Permit salary limits rose in March 2026, so check current figures. Also note that a student visa does not let you bring family. Only PhD students are considered.
Scholarships in Ireland exist at government and college level. The Government of Ireland Scholarship usually opens in January and closes in late March. Many colleges also give fee discounts. National College of Ireland, for example, announced ₹75 lakh in scholarships for Indian postgraduate students. Check the latest terms.
For student accommodation, Ireland has three choices: on-campus rooms, private student halls and shared flats. Dublin costs the most. Book early, as rooms go fast once offers are out.
Good Ireland education consultants check your course, funds and documents before you apply. Funds proof must be clear and traceable, so small errors can hurt you. If you search for student visa consultants in Delhi, look for clear fees and no "guaranteed visa" claims. Visa Solutions 4u guides you from course shortlist to VFS Global Ireland preparation. It also helps you meet every one of the Ireland study visa requirements from India on time.
Note: fees, funds and permit rules change. Confirm the latest on you apply.
Frеquеntly Askеd Quеstions (FAQs)
What are the Ireland study visa requirements from India?
You need an offer for a full-time course on Ireland's eligible list, at least €6,000 of tuition paid, and proof of €10,000 in ready funds for living costs. You also need private medical insurance, a valid passport, proof of English, an explanation of any study gaps and a statement that you will return home after your course. Indian applicants must also give biometrics.
How much is the Ireland student visa fee?
A single-entry visa costs €60 and a multiple-entry visa costs €100. VFS Global Ireland also charges a service fee. Visa fees and VFS fees are not refunded if your visa is refused or withdrawn.
How much money do I need? Ireland euro to INR
You must show €10,000 for the first year. At a rough rate of ₹100 per euro, that is about ₹10 lakh. The real rate changes daily, so check it before you move money. You also need at least €6,000 of tuition paid.
Can I work on an Ireland student visa?
Yes, if you hold Stamp 2 permission. You can work up to 20 hours a week in term time. You can work up to 40 hours a week from 1 June to 30 September and from 15 December to 15 January. Self-employment is not allowed.
When is the Ireland intake for Indian students?
September is the main intake and has the widest choice of courses. January is smaller. For September, plan to apply for your visa by May, because processing can take 4 to 12 weeks.
Do I need IELTS for the Ireland study visa?
You need proof of English unless your course is an English language course. IELTS is the most common test. Each college sets its own score, and Masters courses often ask for more than the visa minimum, so check your course page.
What are the Ireland PR requirements for students?
A student visa does not lead straight to PR. Most graduates use the Stamp 1G graduate permission to find a job, then move to an employment permit. Long-term residence comes later, and time spent only on student permission generally does not count. Check the current rules with the Irish immigration service before you plan.
Is there an Ireland 71 lakh scheme for Indian students?
We could not find an official Irish government scheme with this name for students. Some websites describe a relocation grant, but those claims are unverified. Do not pay anyone for a '71 lakh scheme'. Real money for students comes from scholarships, such as the ₹75 lakh fund announced by National College of Ireland for Indian postgraduate students.
Where do I give my biometrics for Ireland?
You give fingerprints and photos at a VFS Global Ireland centre in India after you apply online. Book your slot as soon as you submit the online form.
How do I choose Ireland education consultants or student visa consultants in Delhi?
Look for clear fees, written service terms and real counsellors who check your funds and documents. Avoid anyone who promises a guaranteed visa. A good consultant helps you pick a course, plan your funds and prepare a clean file.
