British Columbia has implemented significant alterations in its Provincial Nominee Program for 2025, with various new twists. The province will now focus on selecting skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and healthcare professionals who can make a strong impact on the economy.
What’s New in BC PNP 2025?
- Fewer Nomination Spots:
- Priority for Healthcare Workers:
- Focus on Entrepreneurs & Economic Contributors:
This year, B.C. can nominate only 4,000 applicants — half the number allowed in 2025. Out of these, just 1,100 are open for new applications. The rest are reserved for processing applications already in the system.
A large portion of these nominations will go to healthcare professionals directly involved in patient care. This includes doctors, nurses, and various allied health workers.
The province is also keeping the door open for entrepreneurs and about 100 applicants who bring significant economic value to B.C.

Other Applicants Who Can Still Apply in 2025

- Entrepreneurs planning to invest in or launch a business aligned with the province’s economic needs.
- Skilled workers in roles that bring a high level of economic value to British Columbia.
What This Means for Applicants
Because of the sharp drop in nomination slots:
- Regular and priority occupation draws have been put on hold for now.
- Most of the year’s efforts will be spent handling existing applications.
- Only a select few new applicants — mainly healthcare workers, entrepreneurs, and high-impact professionals — will be invited this year.
